Meeting of European Development Banks in Prague

After two years the Czech-Moravian Guarantee and Development Bank hosted again the workshop and permanent working group meeting of the Network of European Financial Institutions for SMEs (NEFI). The meeting was held in Prague on the 1st and 2nd of December, 2016. The discussion focused in particular on the topic of financial instruments.

At the two-day meeting, which was opened by CMZRB's CEO Mr. Jiří Jirásek, members from 13 European countries participated. Meeting participants were sharing their experiences with the preparation of financial instruments financed by the European structural and investment funds. The discussion showed that the implementation of structural funds is much more complicated than the implementation of instruments co-financed in the frame of the so-called “Investment plan for Europe”.

However, despite the difficulties associated with the set-up of procedural rules a number of countries have already successfully utilized funds allocated to the programming period of 2014-2020 through the implementation of financial instruments. The largest share (10%) of them on structural funds utilization is assumed to be in Hungary.

The next meeting of NEFI Members is going to take place in February 2017 in Brussels and will be hosted by the German KfW.
